PropCopter. An ultralight Helicopter Design to Promote Interest in Light Helicopters and to explore New Thinking in Experimental Aviation. A New Concept for Rotorcraft Builders.
PropCopter is a 184 lb., twin-engine Experimental Heli, that uses Props on Rotors to drive it's 22 foot rotor system. Originally conceived by Igor Bensen, this design drives the rotor without producing torque and allows the design to remain simplistic with no tail-rotor needed. This machine was built to explore the Low Horsepower envelope and to stimulate thinking on ways to create an ultralight, low-cost, man-carrying Helicopter. Dr Bensen called the design H.E.P.A.R.S. (High Efficiency Propulsion and Rotor System). This craft approaches the load-carrying ability of an airplane in power to weight ratio.
Experimentation is the Fertile Ground upon which the Seed of new ideas are sown. Our next Generation of Rotorcraft will spring forth from this growth. It is your Ideas which Create Our Future. Go. Create. Never stop Experimenting. The Future is Yours. M.D.
